Why does this Walmart customer want a Frito-Lay employee fired?

Funyuns are a fan favorite. With their bright yellow bag and onion ring that mimics their shape and flavor, it’s hard to be mad at them. This customer, however, is more than rightfully mad at this bag of Funyuns that they bought in a box of Frito-Lay chips from Walmart.

In the video, Tatiana (@tatianaaaatt) shows viewers how to unwrap a bag of Funyun chips. They also show viewers the box the chips came in, which contains an assortment of Frito-Lay chips. Tatiana shakes the bag of Funyuns and you can hear that there doesn’t seem to be much inside. Eventually, Tatiana opens the bag of chips and reveals that there is only one chip inside the package. ONE.

“So someone from Frito-Lay, you need to be fired,” she says. Who was trying to be funny? That’s not right.” Tatiana shakes her head in disappointment.

The video has already been viewed more than 783,000 times as of Sunday.

The viewers are just as shocked

“Ikyfl. EENEEE lmfaooo. The anger I would feel,” one user wrote

“-@Frito-Lay WE NEED AN INVESTIGATION SNOW,” demanded another.

“@Frito-Lay no, because then I would have called the FBI CIA Scooby Doo and the Gang,” another commented.

“Show me on TikTok when Frito Lay ships out their boxes of products,” another begs.

Is this ‘shrinkflation’?

The Daily Dot has previously reported on shrinkflation, where companies charge customers the same amount for a product that yields less than normal. This is a tactic used by companies to meet rising supply-demand costs and inflation. Funyun chips could be a victim of this.

As an article in Finance BuzZ puts it, “Doritos previously offered a 9.75-ounce bag of chips, but Frito-Lay has reduced that to 9.25 ounces. Technically, that only means there are about five fewer chips in a bag, but it’s still not news any of us want to hear.” Could this be what happened to the Funyun bag?

Some viewers believe it was simply an employee mistake.

“As an old worker in a chocolate pretzel factory, lol baby, that was the night shift,” one user claimed.

“As my mom always says, ‘it was either Monday or Friday,’” wrote another.

While there’s no way to know exactly what happened, it’s safe to assume that it wasn’t intentional, as bad as shrinkflation is these days. Perhaps it was an employee mistake, as viewers have suggested.

Tatiana asks for more chips, with the video captioned: “@Frito-Lay please send me some chips lmaoo because who’s working? [there] did that???” It’s fair to say that Tatiana deserves a few more chips.

The Daily Dot reached out to Frito-Lay via email for comment and to Tatiana via a TikTok comment and message asking for comment.
